Calumet Farm Distillery – 18 Year Old Bourbon Bowling Green, Kentucky, USA NOSE: Immediate oak dominance: aged, tannic wood, worn leather and antique furniture polish with rich caramel, vanilla, dark fruit such as cherry, fig and raisin, a hint of licorice and tobacco. PALATE: Rich and full-bodied: start with dark caramel/vanilla, then cherry-cola type sweetness, then deeper oak/leather/spice. Mid-palate: baking spices (cinnamon, nutmeg), anise/licorice, polished wood, dark chocolate, brown sugar. Mouthfeel: described as creamy or rich, coating the palate more like heavy cream. FINISH: Long and mature: lingering oak tannins, leather, dark chocolate, orange peel, maybe a hint of banana cream; dryness from old oak and mature wood.
