Buffalo Trace Distillery – Old Charter Oak “Finest Oak” KY Straight Bourbon Whiskey Frankfort, Kentucky, USA NOSE: Rich vanilla bean, polished and freshly cut oak, caramel and sticky toffee, followed by black pepper, cinnamon and other baking spices. Fruitier impressions. PALATE: Vanilla & seasoned oak lead, supported by toffee, caramel and butterscotch. Cherry, overripe red fruit & peach-sweet-tea flavors provide sweetness against wood. FINISH: Medium to moderately long, particularly for 95 proof. Persistent polished oak is joined by dark chocolate, butterscotch, allspice, cinnamon and black pepper. Lingering fruit appears around the edges, with notes of fresh mint, leather and toasted wood. NOTES: The packaging reportedly identifies Canton Cooperage of Kentucky as the source of the barrels. Exact oak species, stave seasoning, toast level, char level and bourbon age have not been disclosed. Best suited to customers who enjoy Eagle Rare, mature Buffalo Trace profiles.
